Hi, I’m Alec!

Before I could walk and talk, all I wanted to do was spend hours at the keyboard, plunking nonsense into existence. Now I’m a classically trained pianist of 16 years, with experience in pop, jazz, musical theatre, and nontraditional styles. Through the lenses of composer, music director, and piano teacher, I spend the majority of my time working with music as raw material and shaping it into various forms. Theory, intuition, tradition, creativity and iteration become tools to craft a song from an idea, a show from a score, or a musician from an enthusiast. There’s always more to learn, and in many ways I’m still that toddler, pressing notes to see what will happen. But curiosity has guided me to where I am now, and I’d love to share that part of my journey with you through this site. Welcome!
